Building
a Presentation with New Content
The New Presentation task pane enables you to build your presentation
with blank slides, predesigned templates, or prestructured outlines.
Choose File > New or switch to the New Presentation task
pane (see Task Pane
Overview). Click one of the following options:
Use slides that have basic layouts and no design. See Creating a
Presentation with Blank Slides, below.
Let PowerPoint help you determine your content with predefined presentation
structures. See Using
the AutoContent Wizard.
Use keywords (e.g.technical report) to search Microsoft Online for
specific additional templates.

Creating a Presentation with Blank Slides
- With the
New Presentation task pane open, click
Blank presentation. The Slide Layout task pane opens and
the default title slide appears. If you don t want to use the
default title slide to begin your presentation, choose another layout
from the task pane (see About
Slide Layouts).
Tip: Save your presentation as soon as you create it,and
resave it periodically as you work. See Creating,
Opening, and Saving Presentations.
- Click
one of the slides placeholders and type the title text. Alternatively,
click the
tab and type text beside the thumbnail image.
- Click
or press CTRL+M to insert another slide, and then choose a layout from
the Slide Layout task pane. Your slide can contain combinations
of text, pictures, tables, charts, and animations. See Drawing
Lines and Shapes, and Adding
a Chart or Graph.
